Petitions To Replace Robert Pattinson As Batman Already Launched

It looks like some people aren't quite happy about Robert Pattinson taking over as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' new film. There have been several petitions asking for the Twilight star to be replaced as Batman in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick.

It was previously reported that Pattinson has been cast as the new Batman, effectively replacing Ben Affleck in Reeves' Warner Bros. project. Although the studio has yet to confirm Pattinson's casting, some people just couldn't wait and immediately set up petitions begging DC and Warner Bros. to choose a different actor.

One petition tells the studio, "Don't make the Batfleck mistake again. Don't do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe." Another one points out that, "There's no way Robert Pattinson should play Batman. This is a complete joke! This would be the worst casting ever for the dark knight."

Interestingly, one of these petitions offers an alternative for the new Batman movie. "To cast Robert Pattinson or anyone other than Armie Hammer at this point would be a joke," they wrote, posting fan art depicting the Call Me By Your Name actor as the Caped Crusader.

It's still too early to tell whether Pattinson will actually end up playing Batman soon. After all, the Water for Elephants star is currently listed as the "top choice" to take on the role and has not yet been confirmed for the casting. Interestingly, the other actor who might play a younger Bruce Wayne is X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Nicholas Hoult.

Pattinson has just finished work on The Devil All The Time while Hoult is currently promoting his new film Tolkien.
