Pet Sematary Gets Its First Trailer And It’s As Unsettling As Ever

The trailer for Kevin Kolsch's upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary is finally out, and it's as creepy as ever imagined.

Riding along with this year's Halloween season, Paramount decided to drop the trailer for Pet Sematary today, beginning the film's marketing campaign before it releases next year in April.

Opening with the Creed family moving into the outskirts of a small town in Maine, the trailer for the film starts off bright and serene, only to spiral into something darker. The Creed's new neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow) warns the family about the woods.

There's something dark about the pet cemetery out in the woods behind the Creed's house. Whatever's buried there doesn't stay dead for too long and it looks like the dark energy behind all the animal resurrections start coming after the Creeds after their family cat comes back to life.

Kolsch's new film is a remake of the 1989 horror adaptation by Mary Lambert, and like its predecessor, the new Pet Sematary comes off as unsettling as ever. Looking at the trailer, fans get to see how the Pet Sematary remake stays true to its source material, featuring the more frightening parts of King's story like the flashbacks to Rachel Creeds (Amy Seimetz) childhood and her terminally-ill sibling, Zelda.

For those who aren't familiar with the original book, Pet Sematary has enjoyed being one of King's best-known novels and is considered by many as one of the writer's most disturbing story.

Pet Sematary is set to premeire on April 5, 2019.
