Penelope Mitchell Joins Hellboy Reboot

Millenium's Hellboy reboot is getting ready for production and the project has been busy adding new cast members to its roster.

Though the addition of Ed Skrein as Japanese American Major Ben Diamio and the Deadpool star's eventual exit sparked a lot of controversy, it seems like pre-production continues on rolling with Hellboy naming Vampire Diaries and Hemloock Grove star Penelope Mitchell as one of the film's new cast members.

According to Deadline, Mitchell has just been added to the reboot to play Hellboy's Ganeida. For those who aren't familiar with the character, Ganeida is an elder witch against the wrath of Nimeu the Blood Queen, deciding that the it was time to stop the powerful sorceress.

Unlike Skrein's casting which was criticized for whitewashing, Mitchell being cast as Ganeida sounds relatively safe for the Hellboy reboot. There isn't that much information on how significant Ganeida's role will be in the film, but we hope that Mitchell will do well as the elder witch.

Starring David Harbour, Ian Mcshane, Milla Jovivich, Sasha Lane, Hellboy is slated for a 2018 release.
