James Gunn has finally set the record straight on the DCU canon status of the first season of Peacemaker.
Considering that DC Studios is currently developing the second season of the hit series as part of the new DCU franchise, there have been questions about whether the first season is part of the canon.

James Gunn Confirms Peacemaker Season 1 is Not Canon in the DCU
A fan recently asked Gunn on Threads whether the first season of Peacemaker is canon in the DCU
The DC Studios co-chairman confirmed that it is NOT part of the canon in the new franchise.
"Season one isn’t canon but no," he said.
In response to another question from a fan on Threads, Gunn also revealed that the second season of Peacemaker will take place after the events of the Superman movie.
He responded, "Answering this again to be clear: Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events in Superman."
To minimize the confusion over this new reveal, Gunn responded to another fan question that asked him about whether Peacemaker's previous storylines would be integrated into the second season.
He confirmed that they are still going to have an impact on the show's jump to the DCU.
"Many strands will remain consistent, yes, insofar as Peacemaker’s story goes," Gunn said.
This should set the record straight on the confusion over the canon status of the first season since we have a word now that the second season is seemingly going to be a fresh new series.
However, confusion, especially toward the average viewers, is still inevitable given the heavy connections and similarities to the previous iteration.
