Patrick Wilson Wants to Reprise Nite Owl Role for the HBO Series

Later this year, we'll be seeing Patrick Wilson go against Jason Momoa in DC's Aquaman, but in 2009, we met him as hero Nite Owl in Zack Snyder's Watchmen movie. With news of Damon Lindeloff working on a Watchmen series for HBO, Wilson opens up about wanting to reprise his role as Dan Dreiberg, but he sadly wasn't tapped to make any appearance.

Talking to Yahoo Movies, Wilson says:

"It was such a joy shooting that movie, I wanted there to be more of them… I've wanted to play Dan again. I certainly think we're all more age appropriate now!"

In Watchmen, Wilson had played Dan Dreiberg a.k.a. Nite Owl, a Batman-type hero who used to partner up with Rorschach. It's a pretty complicated story, but let's just say that Dan is one of the more noble members of the Watchmen didn't go crazy and murder a bunch of people.

As for being in the show, he says that he hasn't been approached in any way. He explains:

"There's never been one conversation… I'm sure they want to stay as far away from us as possible but I love Damon Lindeloff I'm so excited to see what they will do. I'd love to play [Dan] now but no there's been no talk, I'm just a fan like you are."

With the HBO series looking to reinvent itself apart from the movie, it would make sense that they wouldn't contact Wilson to make a return. Guess we'll just have to see him in Aquaman later this year.

Aquaman is set to come out Dec. 21, 2018.
