Pacific Rim Uprising Gets Prequel Comic

It took a few years, but fans will finally be able to watch Pacific Rim Uprising next year. To hype up the sequel, Legendary will be releasing a six-issue mini-series that details the aftermath of Pacific Rim and sets up next year's sequel. It is fittingly called Pacific Rim Aftermath and fans will be able to pick up the first issue on January.

Aftermath will focus on John Boyega's character Jake Pentecost, as he tries to find information on how his father died. You'd think someone would just tell him that a Kaiju killed him, but he could be going through denial. As the story goes on, the series will also spotlight a Mech Czar who rules over the criminal underworld, and a former Jaeger pilot who becomes a mob enforcer.

Prepare to return to the epic universe of Jaegers and Kaiju with PACIFIC RIM AFTERMATH, the official comic book prequel to the highly anticipated new film PACIFIC RIM UPRISING starring John Boyega and coming to theaters March 2018.

Santa Monica, 2034. In a city that was once the jewel of the West Coast, a new world has emerged: one rising up from the ashes of giant robots and giant monsters. In this futuristic aftermath, we will meet a new generation of survivors, including Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, who is searching for answers behind the death of his Legendary father; Griffin, a Jaeger pilot who has gone from defending the world to piloting an illegal Jaeger enforcer for a mob boss; and the Mech Czar, a techno-criminal overlord who rules the underworld with a steel fist. Set against a neo-noir backdrop of street gangs, Kaiju worshipers, and Jaeger Scrapyards, a mysterious but familiar figure arrives with a dangerous agenda…

Pacific Rim Uprising is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil). The film will be released in theaters on March 23, 2018.
