Original Daredevil Showrunner Would 'Love' To Come Back To Marvel

Steven DeKnight might be busy working on Pacific Rim Uprising, but before he was attached to direct that project, he was the showrunner for the first season of Marvel Netflix's Daredevil. Even if he's off doing a blockbuster movie, however, DeKnight is still open to working with Marvel, granted that time will allow him.

When asked by a fan on Twitter to make more ‘Marvel stuff,' DeKnight replied:

DeKnight was the showrunner for the first season of Daredevil, but with him moving on to Pacific Rim, he was replaced by writers Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez. Though I do love the characterization of the Netflix Punisher, I have to admit that all the Elektra parts of Daredevil was where the series fell flat.

Though it sparked a lot of interest before, it seems that hype for the Marvel Netflix universe is at an all-time low. After the disappointments that were Iron Fist and The Defenders, even The Punisher series is having a hard time raking in the audiences that stuck for Jessica Jones and the probably the first half of Luke Cage.

Maybe Marvel Netflix will get its groove back someday, but until a new season of at least one of the heroes is released, we'll just have to wait and see. Honestly, the one thing I think that's holding the universe back is the clear divide between Marvel TV and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Would it kill Marvel to have Spider-Man interact with Daredevil for one episode?

Daredevil 3 is set to release on Netflix sometime in 2018. Pacific Rim Uprising comes out March 23, 2018.
