Original Cyclops Star Talks About The Possibility Of Joining The MCU

It's been a while since James Marsden's stepped out of the X-Men franchise after Fox opted for a reboot, but now that the studio's been acquired by Disney in one of the biggest sales in history, fans are wondering whether the Cyclops actor would want to return to his role.

Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com, Marsden was asked whether he was interested in his reprising his role as the X-Men's Scott Summers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor is pretty open to the possibility, it seems.

"Sure, I'd be down. I think that world, there just are no rules. You can do whatever you want," Marsden responded, "If there's some iteration down the line where we're involved...that's been a special thing to be a part of for a good period of my life and I love those fans and I love playing that character so, yeah, I'd be totally open to that."

For those who haven't been able to follow the original X-Men movies, Marsden was Cyclops for the franchise's first three films. However, his character was killed in X-Men: The Last Stand, the highest grossing film in the X-Men film series (at the time). After The Last Stand, Fox decided to reboot the franchise with X-Men: First Class, an entry that took place decades before the original films. Tye Sheridan then took over Marsden's role, playing young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Now that Marvel is planning to reboot the X-Men franchise, Marsden's return can be made possible. What do you think of the actor's odds of appearing in the MCU? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
