Nintendo Switch May Live Up to Its Hype

There are so many things that can go wrong with an overhyped product. Between disappointed fans and rabid critics, there's a thin line between appropriate marketing and pushing the limits.

For some, the Nintendo Switch may already be toeing the boundaries. However, based on recent feedback from different sources who have already played the new console, Nintendo may have hit a pretty good winner this time.

Speaking at an earnings call (via GameSpot), GameStop CEO Paul Raines confirmed that he was impressed with how his demo run with the Nintendo Switch was like.

"The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago—we believe could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming."

Just recently, Bethesda's Todd Howard also expressed his delight in experiencing how the Nintendo Switch runs, so much so that he also pretty much reaffirmed that the studio will be doing something for the console.

Additionally, more than the personalities within the gaming industry, the fans themselves seem excited about the launch of Nintendo's newest device. According to the report, members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards system had already expressed their interest, with as many as 27% of those already planning to buy the console.

We still have the January event to look forward to, and a lot of people are already expecting that this will be the venue where Nintendo will roll out most of the killer features. The software and hardware specs and capabilities are still under wraps, so if Nintendo delivers, we're likely looking at a big contender in the gaming scene for Nintendo Switch.
