New The Dark Tower Featurette Focuses on The Legacy of The Gunslinger


A lot of Stephen King's fans would consider The Dark Tower to be his best series of books, so seeing his novels translated into the big screen would be a dream come true for them. We recently learned that the film will be a sequel to King's series of books but if you're not familiar with that, this new featurette called "The Legacy of the Gunslinger" will help you get the basic gist of it. Idris Elba and Matthew Conaughey introduce their characters, Roland Deschain and The Man in Black. Pretty much, Elba's character, the only gunslinger who can stop The Man in Black, must defend the Tower from falling or the whole universe will be destroyed. More intersestingly, we get to hear Stephen King's comments about the upcoming film.

Synopsis:

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King's The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world's most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, the film also stars Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tirana; Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) as Pimli, the right hand man of Randall Flagg; Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen); Katheryn Winnick (Vikings) and Claudia Kiim (Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The Dark Tower will be released in theaters on August 4.
