New Details On Snoke’s Backstory in Star Wars: The Last Jedi Visual Guide

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Force Awakens left fans with a lot of questions, and one of the burning mysteries that everyone was hoping to have answered was Supreme Leader Snoke's identity.

Menacing and wrinkled, a lot of theories surrounding Snoke's origin revolved around the supreme leader either being an older version of Senator Palpatine or Jar Jar Binks. Though it seems like Star Wars: The Last Jedi ignored all these theories and by-passed the question of Snoke's identity by killing off the Supreme Leader in his own throne room, a new Star Wars book has a few new details about the character.

Pablo Hidalgo's Star Wars: The Last JediVisual Dictionary (via Comicbook) has a short entry about Snoke, and in it, fans get to learn more about the character's time in the Unknown Regions.

Detailing the oculus viewing scope in Snoke's throne room, the quote also provides information on how the remnants of the Empire were able to make it through space.

"Snoke's retinue includes mute alien navigators who originated in the Unknown Regions. Were it not for the ancient hyperspace trails blazed by these towering servants, the Imperial survivors who fled into this uncharted realm would certainly have perished. These navigators designed and operated the oculus viewing scope in Snoke's throne room."

There's been a lot of talk about Snoke and the Unknown Regions for quite some time, however we're still hoping to get a more detailed story of the character's origin and his rise to power in the First Order inEpisode IX(or in a canonStar Warsbook, we'd also be fine with that).

Star Wars: The Last Jediis currently screening in cinemas.
