New Animated Suicide Squad Movie Gets a Trailer

DC's Suicide Squad has gotten a lot more attention since the release of the 2016 movie, and Warner Bros Animation is making another film centered on the supervillain group. Here's the first trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.

It's not clear whether this movie will be a direct sequel to Batman: Assault on Arkham, but it does feature four of the members of the first animated Suicide Squad. Not to mention, the Amanda Waller in Hell to Pay looks vastly different from the one in Assault on Arkham. Most likely this film takes place in the same continuity as Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Justice League Dark, and Batman: Bad Blood.

In Hell to Pay, it looks like the team will be going up against Vandal Savage, a classic DC villain who is an immortal warlord. There have already been various iterations of the character in animation and live action, and I'm curious how he'll play into this movie as the main villain.

With Batman: The Killing Joke being R-rated, this movie is also said to be going for the same rating. It's way past PG-13 when you watch Harley beat off a head of a frozen cop.

No specific release date has been announced for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, but the movie is set to come to home video this coming spring.
