20th Century Fox has confirmed a deal with director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium, Chappie) to develop a new Alien movie.
The untitled film project is separate from Prometheus 2, which Fox is still making with Ridley Scott. Scott is producing both both films through his production company Scott Free.
Blomkamp had been teasing concept art in recent months, but said the reboot was abandoned. But now he just officially confirmed the news on Instagram: "So I think this is officially my next film."
No word yet on whether SIgourney Weaver will reprise her role as Ripley but last week, she told Comingsoon.net that she's interested in being in Blomkamp's project.
