NBC Developing Grimm Spinoff With A Female Lead

It looks like NBC is working on a spinoff of Grimm. The fantasy procedural television series that lasted for six seasons now has a new spinoff, and this time it's set to feature a female lead.

According to Deadline, NBC is currently developing an untitled spinoff of Grimm with Melissa Glenn as the series' new executive producer. Not only has Glenn written episodes for Netflix's recently canceled Marvel Television series Iron Fist, but she's also written a few episodes for The CW's Beauty and the Beast, Leverage, and Hawaii Five-O.

The original Grimm series had David Giuntoli as its lead star, playing the role of Portland police detective Nick Burkhardt, a man descended from Grimms, a legendary line of monster hunters. Meanwhile, this new spinoff will center around a female lead. Building off the mythology that was already built by Grimm, the new spinoff series will bring in new characters while bringing back existing characters from the original show.

No actors have been attached to the project just yet, however, Grimm co-creators Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt have been brought back as consulting producers for the upcoming series.

For those who aren't that entirely familiar with Grimm, the fantasy procedural series followed Nick Burkhardt as he investigated murders that would always lead him to conflict with strange and unique creatures inspired by Grimm's Fairy Tales and folklore from various cultures around the globe. Though the series wasn't a huge hit, it was quite the success for NBC, drawing in a strong audience with its well-developed universe.

While Grimm tied all of its loose ends during the sixth and final season of the series, there's still a lot of stories to explore in the show's world.

The Grimm spinoff doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
