Narnia: The Silver Chair Finds Its Director

It's been seven years since we last saw The Chronicles of Narnia adapted on screen. Last year's talks about the adaptation of a new instalment, Narnia; The Silver Chair, didn't move as much since it was first reported as early as mid-2016.

This year, we're seeing a little movement forward, as Joe Johnston finally steps up to claim the director's chair. In a report from Variety, it's confirmed that Johnston will be part of the team, which also includes TriStar Pictures, Mark Gordon Company, the C.S. Lewis Company, and Entertainment One.

"Joe is a wonderful storyteller who is equally at home in the biggest franchises and the most intimate character pieces. Because C.S. Lewis' story is iconic and epic, but also tender, personal, and emotional, he's the perfect choice to bring ‘The Silver Chair' to the screen."

Narnia: The Silver Chair will now follow the cousin of the Pevensie children, Eustace Scrubb, who will save the kidnapped child of Prince Caspian. Hopefully, it will also follow the three films, which grossed almost $1.6 billion at the box office.

For those who are not as familiar with Joe Johnston, his work spans quite the genres, as director and effects artist and art director for films like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jumanji, and Captain America: The First Avenger.
