Magic: The Gathering's new set Amonkhet will officially launch this weekend, so it's time for new Banned & Restricted announcement from Wizards of the Coast. The company has announced the following changes effective on April 24 (in both physical cards and online):
Standard:
No changes
Modern:
No changes
Legacy:
Sensei's Divining Top is banned.
Vintage:
Gitaxian Probe is restricted.
Gush is restricted.
Sadly, Standard's powerful key cards Felidar Guardian and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar are still legal in the format, and Mox Opal is still legal in Modern but I think that's too essential for Affinity decks to get banned. At least Amonkhet packs a lot of hate cards against the Felidar Guardian + Saheeli Rai combo, and more cards against Planeswalkers.
Sensei's Diving Top is just overpowered in any format and I'm glad it got banned. As expected, more blue cards get banned in Vintage.
Amonkhet is set to launch this Friday.
