Marvel’s Secret Empire Coming This Year, Hinted for Free Comic Book Day

The havoc in the Marvel universe may be far from over. With Civil War II bringing events to different heights of tension, it appears that a new force will pave a bigger way for chaos for our heroes.

Recently, Marvel has teased Secret Empire, a new comic book that seems to allude to Abraham Lincoln's famous line, "A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand." Given how Marvel Now! also makes use of the "Divided We Stand" line, it seems that this whole idea of face-offs and different sides bleeds into every aspect of the Marvel franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's also entirely possible that it could be a continuation of events, since Captain America's logo can be seen in the teaser.

This isn't the first time that a Secret Empire was mentioned in the Marvel universe. In his book Captain America and the Falcon series, writer Steve Englehart created a subversive group founded by a scientist to become a criminal enterprise related to Hydra.

Secret Empire also seems to be the other comic that Marvel has teased in its line-up for the Free Comic Book Day 2017. According to Bleeding Cool, the teaser image not only features Spider-Man, but also a mention of a "secret," so a timely guess could be the arrival of Secret Empire.

Secret Empire will arrive as a comic book later this year. Details are expected to be released as the launch date nears.
