Marvel's New Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Borrows a Popular Infinity War Phrase

After getting canceled earlier this year, Marvel Comics will be bringing back Guardians of the Galaxy as an ongoing series with God Country's Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw as the creative team. Marvel is currently teasing who could be a part of this new team by showcasing 35 cosmic characters, some of whom have never joined the Guardians before.

That might not be the only thing that catches people's interest, as writer Donny Cates revealed the name of the arc and it's going to get the attention of Infinity War fans; Endgame.

Cates told Marvel.com that the series' first arc is going to be called Endgame, which begins as a reading of Thanos' last will and testimony. Thanos' brother Eros was able to find pull an artifact out of the former's dead heart and it contains some horrid secrets that require the galaxy to be guarded.

It's going to be a part of Cates and Shaw's "insane plan" for the series. If you're familiar with any of Cates' comic books then you know that the writer has a thing for crazy. He wrote Cosmic Ghost Punisher, a series that has has a future Frank Castle steal baby Thanos and try to make him a "good" person. This series also has The Juggerduck and a Punisher-influenced Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy #1 comes out in January.
