Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite Roster Only Has Five New Characters At Launch

The final roster for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has been revealed, and it might not please fans looking forward to newer characters. Of the 30 confirmed fighters in the base-game, only five of them are new to the series: Captain Marvel, Gamora, Jedah, Mega Man X. and Ultron. While Thanos has a completely new move-set, he did appear in Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Most of the characters are returnees from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, which is disappointing to say the least. Admittedly, two of the six DLC characters are new to the series: Sigma and Black Panther. That being said, it's still a shame that the base-roster lacks originality, with its narrow focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Capcom regulars.

Here is the description from the third story trailer of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, which confirmed the 30-man roster:

More playable characters in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: INFINITE have been recently confirmed, including Jedah, Dormammu, Firebrand and Ghost Rider. Additional information and gameplay details on these four characters will be available next week, in conjunction with the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. These newly added characters bring the final roster at launch up to 30 characters, with more post launch characters to be revealed in the future.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is slated for a September 19 release on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The Marvel side has Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Dormammu, Gamora, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Spider-Man, Thor, Thanos and Ultron. Capcom's representatives are Arthur, Chris Redfield, Chun-Li, Dante, Firebrand, Frank West, Haggar, Jedah, Mega Man X, Morrigan, Nemesis, Ryu, Spencer, Strider and Zero.
