Mark Hamill Wanted To Play The Vulture In Spider-Man: Homecoming

Marvel fans have been loving Spider- Man: Homecoming, praising Tom Holland's version of Peter Parker for his wit and Michael Keaton's Vulture. While most complaints against the Marvel Cinematic Universe revolve around the franchise's weak villains, viewers were charmed by Vulture's grounded personality and his motivations centered on standing up "for the little guy."

Though fans probably couldn't imagine any better version of Vulture other than the one played by Keaton, a new report reveals that Star Wars legend Mark Hamill actually wanted to play the role for Homecoming.

Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes during Disney's D23 this weekend, Hamill said that he had actually wanted to play The Vulture and that he had hoped that Keaton would have turned down the role.

"I don't want to jeopardize any potential roles I have in any future Marvel film. I had my fingers crossed that Michael Keaton would turn down The Vulture, but darn it! There's not a lot of villainous roles for senior citizens and so I had my eyes on The Vulture."

While it's unlikely that Disney and Marvel would transfer the role to Hamill now, the pop culture icon could probably go for other villains like Mephisto or Mysterio.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently screening in cinemas.
