Mark Hamill Thinks Being Known “Only” For Star Wars Is A “Win-Win” Scenario

Mark Hamill might have played quite a number of roles in movies and television and animated series, but most fans usually know the Star Wars legend for his role as the Jedi, Luke Skywalker.

Though some celebrities might feel frustrated that fans link them to one character instead of recognizing their skill as actors, Hamill feels nothing but pride and gratitude for being able to play one of the most iconic roles in science fiction history.

Speaking in an interview with the people behind the official Star Warswebsite during his birthday this week, the Star Wars legend spoke about how happy he is to be part of the franchise.

"People say, 'Are you worried that you're only going to be remembered for Luke Skywalker?' I say, 'Listen, for someone who didn't expect to be remembered for anything, it's a win-win. "

(…)That, to me, is a reward that just never stops giving. It's the fact that people feel they know you, they feel you're a part of the family. They relay all these stories about, 'I met my wife online for Empire, and we had a child by the time of Return of the Jedi and we named him Luke.' It's really moving.

I don't take it for granted, and that's why I love the fans so much. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be talking to you right now,"

Hamill's really different from Han Solo star Harrison Ford. The Star Wars star has been hoping for the death of Han Solo for so long, it came as a surprise that Lucasfilm finally caved in and killed him off in The Force Awakens.

Hamill will reprise his role as Luke in Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15, 2017.
