Yesterday, Epicstream reported that while interviewing Ray Davies at a London special event over the weekend (via Den of Geek), Mark Hamill told the crowd that "I finish Episode VIII, and then I'm out of work", which a lot of fans took as a hint that Luke Skywalker will not appear in the Colin Trevorrow-directed Episode IX.
However, it didn't take long for Mark Hamill himself to clarify what he meant when he said that. He posted on Twitter:
Do you think it's still likely that Luke Skywalker will die in Star Wars: Episode VIII?
Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to release in theaters on December 15, 2017.
