Margot Robbie Praises Directors Of The Joker/Harley Quinn Movie

Even if Suicide Squad was a critical bomb, a lot of praise went on to Margot Robbie's version of Harley Quinn, and Warner Bros is working on a spinoff film which focuses solely on Harley and the Joker. WB has hired Crazy Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to write and direct the film, and Robbie comments on working with the pair once again.

In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Robbie explains:

"They're great! It's fun working with a directing duo, and I love them. I've obviously done two films with them so I think they're brilliant."

As far as story details go, we have none, but Robbie has expressed what direction she wants the film to go. She continues:

"I'm personally a sucker for a love story. In any iteration. I think people enjoy seeing two characters who, in Harley and Joker's case, would die for one another. It's kind of romantic in a messed up way."

I can already imagine some fans balking at the idea that Harley Quinn and the Joker are a pair that would "die for each other" since their romance has been famously one-sided since the beginning. Sure Harley would willingly put herself in danger for Mr. J, but the Joker wouldn't give a rat's ass what happens to her—that's what makes him the Joker.

Rumors have suggested that the movie will borrow from Bruce Timm's Mad Love story which explores Harley's origin and her relationship with the Joker. There's also been some talk that the movie will actually see the two have their falling out, resulting in the two slugging it out on each other.

We still have to wait for Warner Bros to give us some official description for the film, but for now, all we can do is speculate.

No official release date has been set for the Harley Quinn/Joker movie.
