Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Reveals When The Fall MTG Set Will Be Announced

Magic: The Gathering's Core Set 2020 hasn't been released yet but fans are already excited to see what the fall MTG set will be like. Today, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater has revealed when he will announce the set codenamed "Archery" which is set to release this fall.

Over on his Blogatog, Rosewater revealed that the fall 2019 set will be announced at the Magic panel at San Diego Comic-Con (July 18-21).

Wizards of the Coast hasn't released details about the upcoming fall Magic set but we do know that its story will be set in a new plane. Back in March, Rosewater revealed that the "Archery" set will take place in a brand new plane:

"After War of the Spark is Core Set 2020. Then in October, we're going to be visiting a brand-new plane. I can't tell you anything about it yet as we're a little too far out from it, but I can say it's a set I've been trying to get us to do for over a decade, and I'm really excited about how it turned out."

We also know that the release date for the fall set will be on October 4, 2019. Prerelease events will be held on September 28-29; Draft Weekend: October 5-6. The release of "Archery" will also mark the rotation of the Standard format, when Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria, and Core Set 2019 will rotate out of Standard.
