To lure more Magic: the Gathering players to MTG Arena, Wizards of the Coast has released an in-game code that allows players to get six free card styles (3D cards) and a free card sleeve using the promo code STARTERSTYLES. This was sent in an email to Arena account holders earlier today. See the details below:

Once claimed, you'll end up receiving the below 3D cards:

As you can see they are giving away one 3D extended art card of each color, as well as an artifact and a unique card back. I'm excited to see two highly playable cards get a free 3D card style with Viashino Pyromancer and Llanowar Elf. Although the other cards I don't play in any decks, you can still use them in Draft when M19 drafts return to MTG Arena. It's important to note that the email did not state when the code expires, so you'll want to redeem this right to be on the safe side.

Today we got to see a lot of awesome card styles in use at the Magic: the Gathering Mythic Invitational event. They definitely make the game more appealing and it could help to draw more players in. For those who haven't see them in action yet, when "holding" the card, the player will be able to tilt and move the card to get a wider, 3D view of the art.

Once you acquire a card style, it can be applied to any card that has that illustration so that you don't have to worry about purchasing that card style multiple times. If you happen to like a card style, but don't have that card, you can still buy the card style and apply it after you buy that card. The card style will automatically be applied once you purchase the card. You can always remove the card style if you feel like going with the classic style.

Another cool feature that will appear in the Arena update will be card sleeves. Card sleeves will only change what the back of a card looks like and can be applied to any deck you use. You can have different card sleeves for each one of the decks that you build just as you would in real life.

The Arena updates are really upping the game and making Magic more enticing for new players especially with it now being a successful e-sport. The Mythic Invitational that started March 28th is played purely on the Magic Arena platform. With its current success, we are excited to see what will happen in the next update! And remember to use the promo code STARTERSTYLES to get started with your card style collection in the Arena!
