Luke Cage 2 is Coming Out in June; Check Out Announcement Trailer

Though a lot of people are celebrating the release of Black Panther as the first black-centric MCU film, some fans would like to attest that Luke Cage came first and the show tried to address modern day issues not situated in Wakanda. As it turns out, the second season for the show is set to premiere soon, and we now have an official release date.

Here's the announcement trailer:

The official synopsis is as follows:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can't save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

I'll be honest, though I think Mike Colter has been great casting for Luke Cage, the second half of the first season was where the Marvel Netflix universe really started to dwindle. Add to that poor reception for follow-up shows like Iron Fist and The Defenders; now Marvel Netflix is at an all-time low. Not even the release of The Punisher could keep the universe hyped.

Hopefully this year will see a renewed interest in the property. Jessica Jones is coming back March 8, and Iron Fist also looks to be working on its second season. Not to mention people are also looking forward to the release of Daredevil 3.

Luke Cage 2 comes out June 22.
