The DCEU may have been on break ever since the release of Justice League last year, but the franchise promises to come back later this December with Aquaman. Jason Momoa is the face of the franchise, and a new pic of him playing with a Hot Toys figure has come out online.

Though Aquaman was initially marketed as the silent/strong type of the group, Arthur Curry has now come out as a more ‘surfer bro'-type character thanks to Justice League. We don't know how much of the character was changed for Aquaman, but Momoa's characterization definitely feels like he's more friendly and playful as compared to when we first saw the character in the Justice League trailer.
After the commercial and critical disappointment that was Justice League, the DCEU had to do some major overhauls when it came to steering the franchise in the right direction. Walter Hamada has been hired to captain this metaphorical DC ship, and a lot of hopes are riding on him to know where the franchise should be headed.
I'm just hoping Zack Snyder can still do something in the universe, because despite all the backlash, I pretty much enjoyed all of his DC entries. They're not perfect, but they were something different from the more kid-friendly Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Aquaman hits theaters Dec. 20.
