Live-Action Ghost in the Shell Tribute Manga Announced


It has been announced that two tribute manga to the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie starring Scarlett Johansson will be released, Anime News Networkreports. The tribute manga will be published in on March 21 in Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine. This isn't the first time a tribute manga for Ghost in The Shell has been published in the magazine, previous tributes were published in the March, February and January issues.

One of the upcoming tribute manga chapters will be done by Tomonori Inoue. Inoue is known as the creator of the manga Coppelion. The manga is about three girls who have been genetically engineered to withstand radiation so they can venture into a nuked Tokyo.

The other tribute chapter will be by Tony Takezaki. He is known for his work on the manga and anime A.D. Police. That series focuses on a group of highly trained agents dealing with terrorist theats in a futuristic Tokyo.

Previous tribute manga have been created by Takumi Oyama (Ghost in the Shell: Arise), Nokuto Koike (6000: Rokuson), Yu Imai (Imori 201) and Nobuaki Tadano (7 Billion Needles). Masayuki Yamamoto, who composed music and performed music for several anime including Yatterman, also did a tribute. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex manga creator Yu Kinutani did the January tribute chapter.

It looks like the live action Ghost in the Shell is getting a lot of manga buzz. We'll just have to wait and see if the movie lives up to the hype. Do you think it will?
