Legion: Bryan Singer Steps Down as Executive Producer

Bryan Singer's status for The Gifted is still up in the air, due to the allegations against him. With investigations at an all-time high, the former X-Men director has stepped down as executive producer for FX's acclaimed Legion series. The series will be debuting its second season in April, so seeing Singer step down from it after the news broke is noteworthy.

Series creator Noah Hawley told Deadline that Singer asked for his name to be removed from the series credits. He got what he wanted apparently. It will be interesting to see if Singer also steps down from The Gifted, which has just been renewed for a second season. At this point, it wouldn't be too surprising.

Here is Hawley's full statement:

"Bryan asked to take his name off the show, so we have done that. Very early on in the conception of the show, I met him a couple of times. He was interested in directing the pilot, but once I stepped in to direct, I haven't spoken to him since that moment. Really, he was a name on the screen."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the Days of Future Past director, though he wasn't thrown under the bus this time. Since these allegations don't seem to be going away anytime soon, it looks like Singer's time with the X-Men franchise has come to an end.

The second season of Legion premieres this April. X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2, 2018.
