Kevin Smith Reveals Captain Marvel Easter Egg in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Earlier this month director Kevin Smith shared that he got emotional after finding out that Captain Marvel had referenced his movie Mallrats, and now he looks to be returning the favor with the Jay and Silent Bob reboot. He shares this screenshot of Jason Lee's character holding a Captain Marvel comic.

Check it:

We don't know who Lee is playing in this scene, but it could be a good guess that he's reprising Brodie from Mallrats. So far the only clue we have is that the shirt looks like the same outfit from the original movie, plus Brodie is known to be obsessed with comics, so it would make sense that he would be checking them out on the shelf.

Back in 2015, it was actually announced that Smith was working on a sequel called Mallbrats, which was then reworked into a 10-episode miniseries. So far the series looks to have been shelved, as no network was willing to pick it up. Hopefully the release of this Jay and Silent Bob film will get studios interested once again in Smith's ViewAskweniverse.

After Smith's heart attack last year, it looks like he's found some new fire to fuel his director work. Personally I'm a huge fan of Smith's, and I think he's actually comparable to Quentin Tarantino when it comes to writing his dialogue. Hopefully Jay and Silent Bob the reboot will manage to be a hit.

No release date has been set for the Jay and Silent Bob reboot.
