Kevin Feige Talks About The Future Of The Original Guardians Of The Galaxy Team In The MCU

The end credits of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 saw Sylvester Stallone's Starhawk assembling the original Guardians of the Galaxy team from the comics, and it looks like the MCU is planning on bringing the characters back for future installments.

Talking to Collider, Marvel head Kevin Feige explains:

"It's always a bit of both. It's always, we do it because it's fun in the moment and it's fun as a potential sneak of what's to come. I think all things being equal, I think James and everybody at Marvel would love to see the continued adventures in some aspect, whether it's a large pat in a future movie or as James just said to somebody else, a Howard the Duck level appearance down the line of any or all of those original guardians. But really the most important immediate thing for us really just to establish and showcase that yes, those original Guardians, though they may never call themselves that in our movie mythology, but they exist."

News of Stallone popping up in other Marvel movies had come out before GOTG 2 even hit theaters, and with the mid-credits scene with him and the original team, there's no doubt that we'll be seeing more of the characters in the future.

It's just my idea, but what if Starhawk's band becomes mistaken as the Guardians of the Galaxy by everyone else, and they're the characters that the Avengers meet for the first time when they explore the cosmos. That way, when the Avengers meet Quill's Guardians, they will think that Stallone's group is the "original" while Quill and his friends are the knock-offs. Like I said, it's just my idea.

Catch the original Guardians of the Galaxy again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which it out in theaters now.
