Kevin Feige Says That Venom, Black Cat, And Silver Sable Are NOT In The MCU... For Now

What a rollercoaster of emotions we're getting from Marvel and Sony. After fans rejoiced when Amy Pascal confirmed that spinoffs like Venom and Silver & Black were taking place in the MCU as well—beside Kevin Feige, mind you—Feige has taken a step back and said that the only Sony character in the MCU for now is Spider-Man.

During a press junket for Spider-Man: Homecoming (via JoBlo), Feige confirms:

"Right now, Spidey is in the MCU and it's just Spidey. Civil War, Homecoming, we've already shot a lot of Tom Holland's scenes in the upcoming Avengers films, and we're just starting to solidify our plans for Homecoming 2 – we won't call it that, whatever it is – which is exciting because it'll be the first MCU movie after untitled Avengers in 2019. It'll be the way Civil War informed everything in Homecoming, those movies will launch him off into a very new cinematic universe at that point. Those five movies are [what] we're focusing on."

You'd think that some fans were overanalyzing Feige when he was beside Pascal when she said the spinoffs were still in the MCU, but it looks like they were right. I'm just curious what Sony has to say to Pascal after another mishap like this.

Of course, it's entirely possible that Marvel and Sony can come to another agreement again, seeing that it's for Marvel's best interest to keep growing their universe. Hopefully Sony doesn't flub this up and continue making Spider-man spinoffs without the title character.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to come out July 7.
