Keanu Reeves Really Wants To Play The Next Wolverine

It looks like Keanu Reeves really, really wants to play Wolverine for Marvel.

Speaking in an interview with Buzz Feed to help promote his latest film, John Wick 3, Hollywood A-list actor Keanu Reeves is asked which superhero or villain he'd like to play in the Marvel or DC comics universe and why.

"I don't know," Reeves told the publication, "When I was a kid, I always wanted to play Wolverine. So Wolverine."

Fans would probably want to see how Reeves would fare as Wolverine. The role is pretty much open, after all, Fox's X-men star Hugh Jackman is already in permanent retirement. Jackman gave up the role after playing in the swan song movie Logan, time and time again denying the many offers to return as James Howlett by other Hollywood celebrities like Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds.

Back in December last year, Reeves was also asked to choose which hero he'd play Batman or Wolverine. The John Wick and Matrix star picked Wolverine.

"Of the two, I'd love to play Wolverine," Reeves said, revealing that Wolvie would be the only comic book role he would consider. "I don't have another [role I would rather play], to be candid."

It would definitely be interesting to see Reeves as Wolverine. James Howlett tends to lean on the full-bodied size. Reeves, on the other hand, is lanky and much smaller in stature. The actor would probably have to undergo some serious body training to fill out so that he could play the role.

How about you? Who would you like to see as Wolverine?

Fox's latest release X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is currently screening in cinemas.
