Justice League Might Make Warner Bros. Lose $100 Million

There might have been a lot of hope for Justice League after the overwhelming success of the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman, however, it seems like the superhero team-up movie isn't doing so well commercially, and now new reports say that Warner Bros. could lose as much as $100 million over the movie.

A report by Forbes has taken the time to break down Justice League's numbers to help give fans an estimate of what the film's total box office gross might be based on the movie's current box office trajectory.

According to the publication, the film could end up with a domestic haul of $235 million (which is the film's opening weekend haul multiplied by 2.45, the median multiplier for the last four films in the DCEU) and around $400 million internationally.

That would give it around $635 million in earnings worldwide with more or less $545 million ending up in the Warner Brother's pocket.

While that doesn't seem like a terrible number, analysts were expecting much more, and the studio spent around $600 million on the film. That's an accumulation of $300 million spent on the reshoots, $150 million for the film's marketing, $60 million on global home entertainment costs, $20 million and $50 million talent costs that include the pay for the cast, crew, and producers.

With these numbers, it seems like Warner Bros. could lose $100 million, putting the future of the DCEU in a rough place. There are so many films coming out after Justice League – there's Aquaman, Shazam!, Wonder Woman 2 and other DC projects like The Batman, Nightwing, Suicide Squad 2 and Batgirl.

The DCEU's future doesn't look too bright.

Justice League is currently screening in cinemas.
