Justice League Darkseid Actor Defends New Gods Director Over Not Recasting Him

The New Gods has a lot of hype from fans since these are fan-favorite characters who haven't really gotten the chance to be on the big screen and having Mister Miracle writer Tom King was the icing on the cake. However, some fans were upset when Ava DuVernay wasn't going to end up recasting Ray Porter as Darkseid for her movie, though some of that criticism went a little bit too far.

Funnily enough, Porter ended up defending DuVernay's decision to not cast him as Darkseid and that was a really nice move from the actor. DuVernay ended up thanking Porter for his super kind words and we really hope that fans leave DuVernay alone. If they want to make fun of A Wrinkle in Time, fine but don't attack the director for it, geez.

We aren't sure how relevant Darkseid will be in Zack Snyder's Justice League but the fact that he'll appear and have some presence is better than his brief mention in Joss Whedon's terrible version. Knowing that he will probably have a major role in a movie about The New Gods is going to put a lot of DC butts in seats if he only has a minor cameo in the heavily hyped Snyder Cut.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will be coming to HBO Max sometime next year. The New Gods does not have a release date, as of this writing.
