Ahead of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s long-awaited premiere, Satoru Gojo VA Yuichi Nakamura shared that he doesn’t know why his character is so popular among fans.
Nakamura recently shared his thoughts on the anime’s upcoming second season with Comic Natalie.
There, he not only explained his approach to voicing the younger Gojo in Season 2, but he also said that Gojo’s appeal is a mystery to him.
While there may be some debate between individual fans, it’s fair to say that Gojo is one of the most popular characters in the series.
Satoru Gojo: One of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Most Popular Characters
If you ask any Jujutsu Kaisen fan who their favorite character is, chances are that Gojo will be mentioned a lot, especially among international fans.
In Japan, Gojo isn’t exactly the number one character in the series; that honor goes to Megumi Fushiguro, who topped the previous character popularity polls.
Among fans outside Japan though, Gojo may have the greatest number of fans, especially now given the exciting events in the manga.
Plus, there’s no doubt that interest in him will likely increase based on Season 2’s first arc.
As revealed previously, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will begin with the Hidden Inventory Arc, which follows Gojo and Geto some years before the series’ main events.
During this time, Gojo was already a powerful sorcerer, even if he was still in high school. Though the events of this arc will show how he becomes even stronger.
Plus, the arc will feature lots of interesting lore details that will become important later in the series.

Gojo VA Yuichi Nakamura Doesn’t Know Why He Is So Popular
Given that he is voicing a younger Gojo for the initial episodes, VA Nakamura shared with Comic Natalie that he changed his approach.
Specifically, he played Gojo a bit more sloppily and lax to account for his inexperience.
Nakamura was also asked about Gojo’s strong appeal among the fanbase. In response, he said that he doesn’t know why fans love Gojo so much.
While he said that Gojo’s fight scenes from Season 1 are cool, Nakamura can’t figure out what’s exactly cool about him.
Despite Nakamura not understanding Gojo’s appeal, his performance in the first season no doubt helped enhance how cool of a character Gojo is.
Given this, it’ll be interesting to see his performance as a younger Gojo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 1 premieres today. Though after five episodes, the series will go on a hiatus.
