Josh Gad Once Again Teasing Penguin Role for DCEU

It's been a while since Josh Gad had teased that he was playing the Penguin for the DCEU, and now it seems like he's back to either campaigning for the role or teasing that he already got it. While Nightwing director Chris McKay decided to make a fan poll on Twitter about casting the film, Gad replied with a gif of Danny DeVito's classic Penguin.

Though it hasn't been confirmed, I think Penguin was originally set to make an appearance in the solo Batman movie before Ben Affleck left the project, and the script was scrapped. Even if the Penguin doesn't show up in The Batman though, I think there's plenty of room for him to appear in either Nightwing or Batgirl.

For now, the DCEU seems to be in a stagnant phase, with only Aquaman set to come out this year. Hopefully we'll be getting more updates on other projects like Flashpoint, Green Lantern Corps., and that Batman solo movie.

Personally, I would love for someone older than Gad to play the Penguin. Though I have no doubt he could play the part, I think he's too young (and cuddly) to play the part of grizzled and old Oswald Cobblepot. Maybe Ian McShane would be a good fit?

No release date has been set for The Batman, Nightwing, or Batgirl.
