Jared Leto Says Goodbye to His Beard, Says Hello to Morbius

Now that Sony has made a ton of money with Venom, it seems like the company is now much more confident in making more movies based on Spider-Man villains (without Spider-Man). As we wait for Carnage to appear in the Venom sequel, Sony confirmed some time ago that Jared Leto's Morbius the Living Vampire would be next. The Suicide Squad actor has confirmed this by mentioning it in a hashtag as he will be shaving his beard.

On Twitter, the 30 Seconds to Mars singer let fans know that he would be shaving his beard to prepare for Morbius. Anyone who's seen the comic books know that the Living Vampire does not have a beard and is more of an anti-hero than a full-fledged villain. Granted, the beard would have been a neat look for the character but Leto's fans who prefer him shaved have something to be happy about.

Since Leto is shaving his beard, it looks like the actor is preparing for production, which could be starting soon. This would technically be the first time Morbius would be seen in live-action, though he was teased in the original Blade movie. Expect Morbius to share the same universe with Venom and Carnage, which should be a lot of fun.

Morbius The Living Vampire will be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House; Life) from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space, Power Rangers, Gods of Egypt). No release date has been announced, as of this writing.
