James Gunn Wants To Make a Nebula Guardians of the Galaxy Spin-Off

Karen Gillian's Nebula will return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but it looks like director James Gunn has bigger plans for the alien mercenary.

When a fan on Twitter said, "I think they should do a Nebula movie. Karen's Nebula was/is the best character in GotG," James Gunn responded:

"I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film - it's something I've thought about from the beginning."

Just because Gunn wants a Nebula film, doesn't mean it will happen. As cool as the character is, I think her role is relatively minor compared to other female Marvel superheroes.

Gunn previouslytalked abouthow the sequel's story will focus more on developing Nebula and Gamora's relationship:

"I really feel like we give the female characters a chance to shine in this movie because Zoe Saldana comes in and she is so wonderfully beautiful as her character. It's touching, and Karen Gillan as Nebula comes in, and she's her sister, and she's completely a much deeper character than we got in the first movie, so we get to know her."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2017.
