Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was one big movie for Marvel and we have director James Gunn to thank for the fun (yet emotional) film. With the DVD out and the sequel in the works, Gunn himself has shared the full script for GotG Vol. 2 online, and you can check it out for free.

I skimmed through the entire thing, and I can tell that a lot of the movie really stuck to the script. With Thor: Ragnarok chock-full of improv from Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth, you'd think that something like GotG would be full of on-the-spot humor as well.
Upon release, a lot of people still thought that the first Guardians was the better film, but there's no denying that the sequel does delve deeper into the characters and their motivations. Some people didn't like the fact the movie seems to laugh too hard at all its jokes.
Either way, Marvel is pleased with Gunn's work on the franchise, and they've hired him to write and direct a third Guardians movie. This would then close the arc of the current iteration of the team, and Gunn has stated that if there were to be a Vol. 4, he would prefer there to be a huge change in the roster.
We still don't have a release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the film is most likely to come out after Avengers 4 which is set for a release on May 3, 2019.
