IT: Stephen King Was 'Not Prepared' For How Good The Movie Was

A lot of good buzz has been surrounding the IT reboot, and even Stephen King himself is singing its praises. He admits to already seeing the movie twice, and he goes on to talk about what he thinks makes the movie great.

Talking to Bloody Disgusting, King explains:

"I had hopes, but I was not prepared for how good it really was. It's something that's different, and at the same time, it's something that audiences are gonna relate to. They're gonna like the characters. To me, it's all about character. If you like the characters… if you care… the scares generally work."

I'm sure my fans will enjoy the movie. I think they're gonna really enjoy the movie. And I think some of them will go back two or three times and actually savor the thing. I went back and saw it a second time, and I felt I was seeing things the second time through that I missed the first time."

King has also talked about his expectations for director Andy Muschietti and says that he had high hopes for the movie because of Muschietti's work on Mama. He also believes that Bill Skarsgard did really great as Pennywise despite the fact that he had to be in the shadow of Tim Curry's portrayal.

All-in-all, things look really good, and a lot of people are excited for this film to come out. There seems to be a lot of new interest with Stephen King material what with Stranger Things and Dark Tower getting released. Let's hope IT keeps the King train chugging.

IT hits theaters Sept. 8.
