The Flash Movie Hires 'Bumblebee' and 'Birds of Prey' Writer to Pen the Script

The Flash movie has been kind of a nightmare behind the scenes, with multiple directors leaving and WB not being able to decide on a script. What's interesting though, is that the film is now in talks with Andy Muscuietti (IT) to direct, and they've also brought in a new writer.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey) has been hired to write the latest script for The Flash. We have no idea what kind of take she's going for with the film, but the studio is said to be aiming for it to be done by January 2020.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein had written a script and were attached to direct the film, but star Ezra Miller himself had rejected the lighter tone of their film and had opted to write his own script with Grant Morrison. It seems that WB has rejected Miller's darker take though, but they still want him onboard for the project.

We don't really know what kind of tone this Flash movie is going for now, but I'm kind of hoping that it falls under the feel of what DC was originally planning. Despite my hate for Justice League, I love how every hero was cast, and Miller's Barry Allen definitely came out the darling of that group.

Fingers crossed they manage to write Ray Fisher's Cyborg into this movie because I thought the two made a great duo—what with both of them being the youngsters of the League.

No release date has been set for The Flash movie, but the goal is to have a script ready by January 2020.
