Indiana Jones Movie Universe May Be in The Works

There's already an Indiana Jones 5 planned for a mid-2019 release. However, that may not be the last that the franchise will see the silver screen.

Disney CEO Bob Iger had already confirmed that the 2019 film is just the beginning, Collider reported. Those who are in charge of story development at Lucasfilm gave a more definitive stance on the matter at the Star Wars Celebration Europe panel, "The Art of Storytelling."

"We have a great honor to have responsibility for, so we want to be really careful with that. Not only for Star Wars but with Indiana Jones, which we're all really excited about as well."

This was stated by Industrial Light & Magic President Lynwen Brennan. According to the source, it is possible that the Story Department, which is also in charge of the Indiana Jones franchise, may treat it in the same way Star Wars has been maintained.

And that also hints at the possibility that a more interwoven universe for Indiana Jones may actually spring forth from the studio. Brennan also mentioned a story mapped across timelines and several platforms, so spin-offs, multimedia project, and the like may not be impossible as well.

Reboots, in particular, are not out of the question. Considering new reboots today that have proven a more-or-less success with audiences, there is that possibility. Though I can't think of another way to portray Indy than having Harrison Ford wielding a hat and a whip.
