How The Avengers: Infinity War Films Will Balance Out Superhero Screentime

The two-part Avengers: Infinity War movies will mark the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's only essential that their storylines not only have the right amount of depth and action, but it's also important that each Marvel character featured would have just the right amount of representation on screen. That responsibility is in the hands of Captain America: Civil War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, as well as directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

The quartet certainly proved they can handle featuring 13 Marvel heroes on the big screen, but featuring around 67 or so Avengers in the Infinity War films is a whole new different ball game. It begs the question how the quartet will be able to handle it.

Well, McFeely, Markus, and the Russo brothers answered that question in a recent interview with IGN. McFeely first answered the question, saying:

When outlining it, we certainly had those conversations. I mean, in the same way that Civil War, not everyone has the same amount of scenes or lines, I think you can assume with so many characters, we'll have to be as rigorous.
We'll say that these people will have larger stories, these people will have smaller stories, and hopefully they can flip in some cases. I know of a few right off the top of my head that had a small part here and a bigger part here.

It looks like all 67 Avengers will get their own appropriate screentime in both Infinity War movies.

Markus also followed up McFeely's statement and said:

You know, there will be moments where every last damn person who's still alive will be in the same room, and they're just a nightmare to write because Marvel, being very good about hiring very good actors, the 15th person there has two Oscars. So yeah, it's crazy.

While all those Avengers will be getting their proper time on screen, it appears not everyone will come out alive as the films wrap up. While it will undoubtedly be a heart-wrenching beginning for Phase Three of the MCU, that doesn't mean the movies won't end with a bang. This the quartet already proved with Captain America: Civil War. In any case, we know we're in good hands with Markus, McFeely, and the Russo Brothers. We only expect to be taken on one hell of a ride with the Infinity War films.

Captain America: Civil War is now in theaters. Meanwhile, The Avengers: Infinity War – Parts 1 and 2 are slated for release on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019, respectively.
