Honest Trailers: The Rise of Skywalker is Just Episode 7.5

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is hitting home release this month, and Screen Junkies has come out with their Honest Trailer take on the film, and it pulls back no punches.

From Colin Trevorrow, until some saw the book of Henry, and a director who’s never seen a landing he couldn’t not stick, comes the epic conclusion to The Force Awakens—Star Wars Episode 7.5: The Rise of Skywalker.

I guess you can say that the trailer was right when it said that this film managed to piss off both fans and haters of The Last Jedi. After all the backlash, it seemed that Disney was hell-bent on ret-conning everything that we got this mess of a film filled with fanservice and poor character development.

With the way the characters were treated so poorly by the end, I’m wondering if Lucasfilm is considering bringing back this era at some point down the line. There’s still a lot of story with Poe and Finn, and there’s been a call to give Rose Tico her own Disney+ series; maybe we can get one featuring her sister Paige as well.

If anything, maybe The Rise of Skywalker can be a lesson from Lucasfilm about their toxic fanbase. There’s no way that a movie is going to please everyone, so I think it’s best that they should just focus on a story that stays true to the elements of Star Wars without relying too much on fanservice. I’m still waiting on that trilogy from Rian Johnson.
