Henry Cavill Responds to 'Wild' Rumors About His Superman Return

While there looks to be no Man of Steel sequel in the works just yet, Henry Cavill's Superman will return for Zack Snyder's Justice League next year. That won't be the last time we'll see the hero though, with recent rumors revealing that Cavill might make cameos for future DC Comics movies. Now, Cavill has addressed these rumors, saying that while reports could get a little out of hand, he's glad that there's still excitement surrounding Superman.

"They get wilder and wilder by the day," Cavill told Variety. "The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating."

"It's when you see people stating stuff as fact," he added. "Like, ‘No, that's not the case. That hasn't happened, and that conversation isn't happening.'"

That being said, the actor thinks the "important thing" is people are excited about it, adding that "it's important to be excited about a character like Superman," since he is a "fantastic character."

Cavill says it's "okay" if people are talking about it or if they are even making some stuff up, because, for him, this means that people still want to see the character again. "And in an ideal world, I would absolutely love to play the character again," the actor added.

The actor even admitted to being "tempted" to post under an alias and comment on rumors. However, Cavill thinks there's something "deeply immoral" about doing so. He adds that he's just going to let it all "play out," pointing out that him saying something won't make a difference. "One day, people will know the truth," he adds. "And if they don't know it now, it's okay."

Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to arrive on HBO Max in early 2021.
