Henry Cavill is Playing Geralt in Netflix's Witcher Series

Henry Cavill is probably best known for his work in movies like Mission Impossible: Fallout and Man of Steel, but he's coming back to the small screen in the form of Geralt in Netflix's The Witcher adaptation.

Here's the official announcement:

It's no mystery that Cavill is a fan of fantasy games, and recently he had expressed that he wanted to play Geralt in the show. No doubt, Cavill's attachment will be a huge draw for The Witcher, and a lot of fans are already waiting to get their first look of him in costume.

According to TV Line, the series will run for eight episodes, and Daredevil's Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be serving as showrunner. Black Sails' Alik Sakharov is also attached to the show as executive producer.

The Witcher is based on a book series by Andrzej Sapkowski and has already been adapted multiple times before, including a 2001 Polish film as well as a TV offshoot. Probably the most popular adaptation, however, is that of the video game The Witcher III: Wild Hunt by CD Projekt Red which came out back in 2015. That game won Game of the Year three years ago, and has made CPR a studio to look out for. No doubt Cyberpunk 2077 wouldn't get as much attention if it weren't for the success of The Witcher III.

No release date has been announced for Netflix's Witcher series, but it's possible that we'll get our first look sometime next year.
