Hellboy Reboot Will Be Bloody And Complex, Says David Harbour

Hellboy fans might have been a bit disappointed by the Hellboy reboot trailer Millennium released last week, but Stranger Things' actor David Harbour promises that there's going to be a whole lot of violence and gore to keep the fanbase up on their feet.

Sitting down to speak in a new interview with Empire, the studio's new Unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse talks about the different kind of qualities that makes Neil Marshall's upcoming reboot stand out from Guillermo del Toro's previous Hellboy movies, teasing the action that fans are going to get in the film.

"There's really a sense that you're actually killing things, even if they are giants and monsters," Harbour explained during his interview with the news outlet. "You're chopping their heads off, you're bathing in their blood and you're feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing."

This description is a direct reference from moments in The Wild Hunt storyline in the comics where Hellboy sees different members of a hunting party being cut down by the very giants that they pursued. Hellboy was a member of that party, and while he was relatively unharmed, Hellboy turns back to attack these giants, massacring them after he loses his temper.

This moment of brutality haunts Hellboy right throughout the storyline, bringing back the memory of the prophecy that the Big Red has been trying to avoid almost all of his life.

"We're taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer," the Hellboy star added during the interview. "He's a weapon."

Hellboy is definitely going to be a wild ride, and while many seem to be apprehensive, we can't wait and see how the film turns out.

Hellboy is set to debut on April 12, 2019.
