Harrison Ford Says He Won't Be Involved in The Han Solo Standalone Film

While most of the movie-watching public attention is all eyes on Star Wars: The Force Awakens right now, some fans and reporters are looking beyond the film's release and thinking about the future of the franchise. The second standalone Star Wars film will focus on a young solo film, and it will be helmed by The LEGO Movie directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. But as I expected, Harrison Ford will not be involved at all.

When Reuters asked Ford who he thinks should be cast for the Han Solo prequel, he said:

"I don't think it's about being like me, it's about us being like Han Solo. So I'm sure whoever is responsible for that film — and I'm not — will think through the issues and problems of doing such a thing...Let's make them responsible for those questions you might think to ask me [about that movie] because I'm not involved."

And when the reporter asked if he'd offer advice to the actor who will eventually play, he said "I'm not going to do that. No."

The film won't be released until 2018, so there's a lot of time for them to figure out whether or not Ford will be involved, but it's good to hear Ford sounding excited to be in The Force Awakens. Ford recently said how The Force Awakens handles Han Solo's storied past.

Disney is currently hunting for an actor to play the young Han Solo.
