Han Solo’s Jacket in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sold For Almost $200,000

Late last month, Harrison Ford decided to auction off the popular jacket that Han Solo wore in Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the sake of research. Well, that jacket has just been sold this week for a whopping price of $191,000, according to TMZ.

The iconic jacket, which most recently appeared in J.J. Abrams' record-breaking film, was signed by Ford himself with a shiny, silver marker.

Ford donated the proceeds to the NYU Langone Medical Center and the FACES Foundation (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) in honor of his daughter Georgia, who has been living with epilepsy.

Ford has been an avid supporter of the Langone Center after Dr. Orrin Devinsky, director of Comprehensive Epilsepy Center, diagnosed Georgia correctly.

Georgia, 25, is Ford's daughterwith the late Melissa Mathison. Georgia had reportedly been suffering with epilepsy for years, undergoing health scares and seizures before being correctly diagnosed.

It's a rare sight seeing Ford, who has played tough, heroic characters in his films, getting emotional in front of the media.

Ford even got teary eyed speaking to the New York Daily News, saying:

When you have a loved one who suffers from this disease, it can be devastating. You know how it affects their lives, their future, their opportunities and you want desperately to find mitigation. You want to find a way that they can live a comfortable and effective life.

Gushing about his daughter, the 73-year-old actor said:

I admire a lot of things about her. I admire her perseverance, her talent, her strength. She's my hero. I love her.

Harrison Ford may or may not appear in the next Star Wars fim, Episode VIII. While Han Solo was clearly killed of in The Force Awakens, the actor hinted that Solo could still appear in future Star Wars films.

Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
